Fleabag’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge will star in Indiana Jones 5 alongside Harrison Ford

Don’t be surprised if Indiana Jones returns next summer and has some looks at the camera that break the fourth wall. Lucasfilm announced on Friday that Emmy-winning and Fleabag star Phoebe Waller-Bridge will star alongside Harrison Ford in the upcoming fifth Indiana Jones film. Details of her role have not been officially revealed, although Deadline reported that she will play the female lead in the film. The studio also confirmed that composer John Williams will return to set the film to music. Ford was already on board to appear as Indiana Jones in this sequel. This will be the first episode in the series that is not directed by Steven Spielberg. Instead, James Mangold will direct from Logan, although Spielberg is still on board as a producer. This won’t actually be Waller-Bridge’s first collaboration with Lucasfilm, as she previously played Lando Calrissian’s droid companion L3-37 in Solo: A Star Wars Story 2018. The plot of this long-awaited fifth Indiana Jones has still not been revealed, and although Ford is nearing its 80s, it has been speculated that Indy might finally hang up his whip. Could he possibly pass it on to Waller-Bridge’s character for future sequels? According to the deadline, the film is slated to start production this summer, and it is slated to hit theaters in July 2022. Since it has already been delayed multiple times and should debut in 2019, it shouldn’t be too attached to the release date might be wise.
