The € 180 million project involves the renovation and expansion of the city’s existing hospital to create a new, state-of-the-art facility covering 167,000 m2, which will be among the most technologically advanced in the country.

Long-standing Manitowoc customer Carron Group has selected a Potain MDT 219 J10, MD 185 B and MC 85 B for a major hospital modernization and expansion project in Treviso, Northern Italy.
Carron is responsible for both the planning and the construction and is expanding the existing 57,000 m2 hospital building on the entire 167,000 m2 site with 90,000 m2 of new facilities.
This new “Citadel of Health” by Cittadella della Salute will meet the latest energy efficiency and environmental standards and will serve as a model for other modern health facilities across Italy.
“The Cittadella della Salute project is part of a comprehensive intervention program that will lead to a complete renovation of the hospital and health organization. The new hospital will be more efficient, welcoming, flexible and much more technological, ”said Filono, project manager at Carron.
Work on the 180 million euro project began in March 2018 and is expected to be completed by spring 2021. The quality and productivity of the Potain tower cranes, as well as the efficiency of the Manitowoc service team, were critical to keeping progress on track.

The Potain service team is quick to respond and avoids a potential productivity slowdown on site, ”said Bordignon.
The Carron Group is considered to be one of the most important construction and restoration companies in Italy. It works on around 35 projects a year and generates annual sales of around 250 million euros. The company was founded by Angelo Carron in 1963 and is now run by his five children who run an organization of 300 full-time employees and 1,200 workers. The company with its headquarters in San Zenone degli Ezzelini, Treviso, is also active in Trentino-South Tyrol. The Carron Group has been a Manitowoc customer for 25 years.
