UK-based energy engineering and maintenance company Sparrows has signed a new five-year contract with a major oil and gas operator to supply crane services for seven of its onshore and offshore facilities in the US
With the seven-digit contract with an unnamed customer, the Sparrows Houston team will offer crane inspection, maintenance, test and repair services in two onshore facilities and on one platform in the Gulf of Mexico.
The contract also includes an onshore processing project and three offshore facilities in California.
“The company will service a wide variety of crane types including pedestal, kingpost, mobile, overhead, davit, monorail and gantry cranes,” said Sparrows.
“The project marks another milestone in Sparrows’ long history with the operator, where the company most recently delivered a rental crane to support the operator’s three-year shutdown in the Gulf of Mexico,” said Sparrow, with no identity information exchange the customer.
Stewart Mitchell, CEO of Sparrows, said, “This contract is a testament to the high quality work our seasoned people consistently deliver and the close relationship we have built with this operator in the United States. We have a clear understanding of the needs of the organization and our specialist teams are ideally suited to support the wide variety of reliable crane types and systems. “
Mitchell said the US had been a focal point for the company with its growth strategy in the country, including the oil and gas market as well as industrial and renewable energy.
“Safety-critical equipment is critical to the ongoing safe operation of an asset. As the US increases its activities in the energy and industrial sectors, we recognize the importance of maintaining continuous operations,” he said.
