A crane / boom truck mounted on a truck fell over during a tree removal job in Peterborough, New Hampshire, USA on Friday.
In this case, the tree was not to blame, it appears the job was done when the crane operator turned around, forgetting that he had briefly upgraded the outriggers on the opposite side of the elevator, and of course it went on.
The crane was finished when it passed
The crane, a new looking Altec, had its boom cut into sections before a tow truck pulled it upright again. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.
The boom had to be cut off by the crane
A spokesman for the local fire department said they were called later in the day when the salvage company decided to cut the boom just in case it started a fire.
In the words of fire chief Ed Walker: “They called the fire department if the metal parts started a bush fire. It did, but it was quickly erased. In the late evening the crew was able to transport the truck away and the next day the separated boom could be recovered. ”
