2020 was a strange year for new car sales, but 2021 could turn out to be even stranger. Many factors play a role, including inventory constraints due to a semiconductor shortage and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Even so, buyers flocked to dealers in the first quarter of the year, with strong results overall compared to that time last year. Many of the top-selling models have seen sales increases, and we’ve identified the top 25 cars, trucks, and SUVs in order of sales. We will continue to update this ranking quarterly as the sales figures are published throughout the year.
Nissan’s compact sedan had a weak 2020, but now that the upgraded revamped model is up for sale, things are looking good. Sales rose by a full 56 percent compared to the previous year and even exceeded the sales result of its big sibling Altima in the first quarter.
