BALTIMORE – On Friday, the Baltimore City Department of Transportation announced that part of Fayette Street will be temporarily closed for crane lift operations.
BGE is coordinating with the Baltimore City Emergency Management Office and a crane contractor to safely remove two window maintenance platforms currently attached to the east side of 2 Center Plaza in downtown Baltimore. The scaffolding was damaged in the construction accident on Wednesday when contractors were working on the building’s air handling and boiler system.

Starting Saturday at 7:00 am, Fayette Street will be closed to traffic between Fayette Street and Charles Street with detours. This part of Fayette Street will be closed until approximately 8:00 PM on Saturday nights.
The crane operation will continue on Sunday morning and will continue until the early afternoon.
Detour signs are being put up in the city center, and drivers traveling in this area should be aware of changes in traffic patterns. Commuters can expect delays and are strongly encouraged to use alternative routes.
