A motorcyclist was killed when the bike he operated pulled off a country lane north of Binghamton and hit a tree.

Port Crane, 56, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities.

Broome County Sheriff’s MPs were dispatched to Tunnel Road in the city of Colesville just after 1:30 a.m. Friday when the crash was reported.

Investigators found that the motorcycle had headed north on Tunnel Road. They said Blakeslee was thrown off the bike when it pulled off the road and hit a tree.

According to a press release, alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash.

It was the second Broome County’s motorcycle fatality in less than a month. Christopher Caletka, 31, from Binghamton died in an accident on April 27 at the Route 17 / Interstate 81 interchange in Binghamton.
