GREENPOINT, Brooklyn (WABC) – A luxury high-rise in Brooklyn is underway to dismantle a crane that broke Thursday afternoon.
The incident was reported on Thursday afternoon in 1 Bell Slip, a 31-story building near Commercial Street and Clay Street.
The crane’s arm dangled from the side of the building instead of sitting over it.
The crane’s collapsed potion is said to be about 175 feet.
The Department of Buildings said the preliminary investigation at the time of the incident revealed technicians on site were doing maintenance on the tower crane when the crane’s boom partially collapsed.
No injuries have been reported and it appears that the rest of the crane is structurally sound.
No part of the crane fell to the ground and the tower construction project was not damaged in the incident.
The DOB continues its investigation and is working with engineers and the crane company to assess the damage to the crane and determine what action should be taken to keep the site safe.
