LOS ANGELES (CNS) – A man climbed onto a crane, estimated to be an estimated 150 feet tall in the East Hollywood area today, and was detained on the mechanism about three hours later and lowered to the ground by firefighters .
Shortly after 6 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to the 4800 block on West Hollywood Boulevard and part of the street was closed, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department, which classified the incident as an apparent “behavioral emergency.”
The man climbed onto the horizontal part of the mechanism and temporarily dangled from the side. At around 9 a.m., the authorities climbed into the operator’s cabin area on the crane and took the man into custody. Firefighters attached a harness to him and a short time later lowered him safely to the floor.
It is unclear what charges the man could face, police said.
