A man was killed in a workplace incident involving a mobile crane on the Gold Coast.

Intensive care paramedics were called to a store in Yatala shortly after noon Thursday, with the man in critical condition at the age of 40.

Health and Safety at Work Queensland has launched an investigation into “a fatal incident involving a mobile crane at a production site” on the northern end of the Gold Coast.

“Since the investigation is ongoing, no further statement can be made about the cause of the incident,” said a spokesman on Thursday.

Chris Perera, senior operations supervisor for Queensland Ambulance, said the man’s condition had worsened when the paramedics arrived and an on-site CPR was performed.

The Queensland Police Department was also there.
