MASTODON TOWNSHIP, MI – A worker died this week in an industrial crane accident on a dam on the Upper Peninsula, police said.
It happened on Tuesday, August 31st, around 12:25 p.m. at the hydroelectric power station on Lower Dam Road in the township of Mastodon, Iron County, Michigan State Police said in a news release. Neil Boser, 49, of Hillman, Minnesota, a Marine Water Works worker, was fatally injured at the scene.
An on-site investigation by MSP soldiers from the Iron Mountain Post found that Waterworks Marine, based in Lacrosse, Wis.
Iron Mountain Post’s Michigan State Police responded to the incident with on-site assistance from emergency medical personnel from Aspirus EMS and the Alpha / Mastodon Township Fire Department.
The Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) is conducting a follow-up investigation into the incident.
