Highways England will close a busy section of the M4 in West Berkshire next week to replace the median.
The carriageway will be closed to traffic in both directions between junction 13 and 14 from Friday, August 20, 9:00 p.m. to Monday, August 23, 6:00 a.m., as part of the maintenance measures in the Southeast region.
A large crane is to replace the median – until the median was replaced, narrow lanes and a speed limit of 80 km / h were set.

People are warned that delays can be expected, so plan your trip in advance – there will be a signposted detour via the A4.
The road closure is part of the repair work on the Wickham Bridge that spans the M4 over Welford Road, which has been damaged by the ingress of water through the joints.
Highways England states on their website: “As soon as the median has been replaced, the narrow lanes will be removed.
