After two incidents on the M6, there are “severe” delays of up to 60 minutes.
Two lanes are closed between the M6 heading south between exit 23 and exit 22 after a bridge was built around 6:25 a.m. this morning, which resulted in debris on the road and surface damage.
Another incident occurred on J22 that resulted in two lanes being closed after a vehicle hit debris from the bridge.
This has resulted in the vehicle having a burst fuel tank resulting in a spill on the road.
Officials from multiple agencies are present including: National Highways, North West Motorway Police, and Maintenance Companies.
Road users entering Manchester and the M60 or M62 are encouraged to exit at J30 or J29 and take the M61 south to avoid the delays.
North West Motorway Police are advising motorists in the area to allow more time to deal with the incident.
