SUZHOU, China, April 29, 2021 / PRNewswire / – Ouster, Inc. (“Ouster”) (NYSE: OUST), a leading provider of high resolution digital lidar sensors for the industrial automation, intelligent infrastructure, robotics, and automotive industries; and FME, a leading provider of unmanned and autonomous technologies Solutions for Space, Industrial and Military Applications today announced the launch of FME’s new 3D anti-collision system for cranes, NOCOL, powered by Ouster’s digital lidar sensors.
“We are pleased to be able to use our 3D anti-collision system for cranes with Ouster’s digital lidar. Existing solutions, including manual and GPS crane systems, are limited in their detection capabilities and leave significant room for operator error. FME’s NORCOL system is easy to install and reduces the potential for collision, “said Mingyu Kim, Chief Technology Officer for FME.
NOCOL is powered by two digital Ouster lidar sensors mounted on either side of the crane. Based on the horizontal 360-degree field of view of the lidar and the rotation of the mounting base, NOCOL covers the entire environment in every direction. Unlike traditional GPS security systems, NOCOL can create a 3D map of the area with accurate spatial information, including the distance between the crane and the surrounding objects.
“High resolution lidar has become a critical technology in the automation revolution as the industry strives for efficiency and safety. With hundreds of injuries caused by crane accidents each year, improved safety systems like NORCOL with Ouster’s digital lidar are paramount,” said he Clement Kong, Ousters GM for the APAC region.
Invented its digital lidar in 2015, Ouster (NYSE: OUST) is a leading manufacturer of high-resolution digital lidar sensors used in the industrial automation, intelligent infrastructure, robotics and automotive industries. Reliable, compact, affordable, and highly customizable, Ouster’s sensors are the foundation for the ubiquity of digital lidar in endless applications and industries. Hundreds of customers have already incorporated Ouster lidar sensors into current or under development products for their upcoming commercial release.
