Post 88 coffee hour

The American Legion Berard-Desjarlais Post 88 will hold a Veterans Coffee Hour on Tuesday, June 15, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Binn’s Building at 111 Chapel St., Harrisville.

The group serves coffee and light refreshments, and any veteran in need of help with VA and government papers, veteran benefits, or other veteran issues is welcome.

Pascoag Library Announces Summer Schedule

The Pascoag Public Library has announced events and programs taking place this summer, including special visits and programs over the next several months.

On Thursday, June 24th, the Rhode Island State Police K-9 unit will be visiting the library from 11 a.m.

Thursday, July 15, “Lamas at the Library, also at 11 am, and on the following day, Friday, July 16, the library will host a hula hoop party from 11 am

On Thursday, August 5th, starting at 11 a.m., the library will host a disability awareness with Athena, the service dog

The library offers handicrafts every week throughout the summer, starting on Mondays, according to the “first come, first served” principle.

‘Revised’ slide show

On Sunday June 20, guests are invited to view a slideshow of the new Burrillville history book entitled “Burrillville Revisited,” written by Betty Mencucci for the Burrillville Historical & Preservation Society and published by Arcadia Publishing.

The event starts at 3:00 p.m. at the Assembly Theater in Harrisville. The slide show gives an overview of the book’s contents and other interesting historical information. You also have the opportunity to meet the author and ask questions. The event is free and there is a book signing after the slide show and books can be picked up or purchased.

Food trucks to bring Father’s Day back to Burrillville

After the book signing, stay close as PVD Food Trucks returns to the Assembly Theater for a Father’s Day event with music by Paul Juneau on Sunday June 20. The assembly of the food trucks will take place at 5 p.m. on the premises of the theater at 26 East Ave in Harrisville

The Burrillville Recreation Commission will host a virtual session on Monday, June 14th starting at 6:30 pm. The agenda and the link to participate can be found here.

The Pascoag Fire District will be on Howard Ave. 141 hold a meeting. The agenda and instructions for virtual participation can be found here.

The Oakland Mapleville Fire District will hold a meeting on Monday, June 14th at 7:00 p.m. at 46 Oakland School St. to discuss an agenda that includes a discussion of complaints from neighbors about noise found here are.

The Harrisville Fire District will hold its annual meeting on Monday, June 14th from 8:00 pm at 201 Callahan School St. You can find the agenda here.

The Oakland Mapleville Fire District will also hold a meeting at the Fire Station on Tuesday June 15 at 7:00 p.m. to further discuss the merger with the Nasonville Fire District. You can find the agenda here.
