The Queensland Secretary of Energy welcomes the state first for such an electric vehicle

Energy, Renewable Energy and Hydrogen in Queensland Mick de Brenni was deeply anchored in his portfolio at the Brisbane Truck Show with the debut of an SEA Electric bucket crane for state energy company Energex.
The 15.5 tonne mobile aerial work platform (MEWP) is located in Energex’s Stafford depot and is intended for storm recovery and maintenance of the network in north Brisbane.
In the comments of the event, de Brenni sees such steps as support in promoting the advancement of electric vehicles on the ground.
“Our Energex crews work around the clock to keep Queenslanders safe and connected. They are some of the first to be on the front lines when storms occur,” says de Brenni.
“With the introduction of the MEWP, you are a technological leader in the field of heavy haulage. This electric motor generates a torque of up to 2,500 nm.
“A 138 kWh battery is located where fuel and air tanks are traditionally used, and saves around 30 tons of diesel emissions every year.
“With more Queenslanders behind the wheel of electric cars, heavy haulage is the next logical step in our decarbonization drive.”

Rod Duke, CEO of Energex, sees the addition to the company’s fleet as an exciting glimpse into the future of electric vehicles in Queensland.
“While we’ve had electric and hybrid cars in our fleet for many years, this truck is the first of its kind for us and we look forward to putting it through its paces,” says Duke.
“It is a real enabler for our emergency response in many ways and has a range of 200 km once fully charged, which has obvious benefits in terms of reducing CO2 emissions.”
“In addition, significantly reduced noise levels make essential crew work activities less intrusive to the community, especially during times of storms and emergencies that often occur at night.”
