KUALA LUMPUR, March 28 – The Ministry of Safety and Health at Work (DOSH) will call top management including the chief executive officer and the contractor’s chairman to investigate the incident on the Sungai Besi-Ulu Kelang (SUKE) high-speed highway .

Deputy Human Resources Minister Datuk Awang Hashim said the affected party will be asked to provide all standard operating procedures as well as improvements to prevent another similar incident from occurring.

“In the past, seminars and courses only involved the Occupational Safety and Health Officer (DOSH) … but this is a large project that involves billions of Ringgit.

“The tragedy should get serious attention … (We will check) if the contractor has acted negligently and we will improve the SOPs in all sectors if there were any weaknesses or if the SOP needed to be updated,” he told reporters a Malaysia Prihatin program at Mara Junior Science College here today.

He said the meeting will take place on April 5th and one of the measures that needs to be taken is the pledges of the parties involved in the SUKE project to raise the level of safety and health for workers.
