AKM Autokranvermietung GmbH delivered two new Liebherr mobile cranes in December – the LTM 1120-4.1 and the LTM 1650-8.1 are among the latest models in the Liebherr mobile crane portfolio. The Munich-based company now has the first LTM 1120-4.1 that Liebherr has delivered to a customer in Germany.
With the 700-ton LTM 1650-8.1, AKM can expand its range of services upwards. Managing Director Sven Bauer explains: “Our largest crane to date was a 500-tonne model. To be able to cover the 700-ton class with the new Liebherr 8-axle crane is a great advantage for us. The LTM 1650-8.1 is much more flexible and mobile compared to a 9-axis model. “
Bauer regards the Liebherr solution of being able to attach and remove the complete rear boom box in a single hoist to be quick and practical. One of the main areas of application for the new crane will be the erection of construction cranes with a luffing jib – in other words, in places where the mobile crane cannot get close to the construction crane. “The LTM 1650-8.1 can handle 19 tonnes with a hook height of around 80 meters without having to switch on the telescopic boom. That’s perfect for 60-meter construction cranes, ”says Bauer.
AKM is pleased to have received the first LTM 1120-4.1 in Germany: “The performance on four axles impressed us immediately. The compact chassis and the extremely long telescopic boom at 66 meters are important advantages for urban work, ”adds Bauer. The new 120-tonne crane is also used to erect tower cranes, among other things, but for the smaller models. Since construction sites are often restricted, the 4-axle crane offers some significant advantages over 5-axle machines of the same load-bearing capacity class. In addition, fewer permits are required for driving on public roads. “The LTM 1120-4.1 is extremely versatile in all areas. It takes up very little space, reaches great heights and is also very powerful, ”explains Bauer.
AKM Autokranvermietung belongs to a group of 120 employees who operate around 50 mobile cranes with a load capacity of up to 700 tons and, with their three 8-axle cranes, have one of the strongest fleets in the Munich area. Over 90 percent of the cranes are supplied by Liebherr. In addition to the performance data, Sven Bauer offers a few other reasons for buying from the market leader: “The downtimes of Liebherr mobile cranes are very short. But even if something happens, the engineers react very quickly. The best know-how currently on the market. You can always rely on Liebherr, even if you have a few problems. “
